Jack
Jack is such a good boy! Hannah has been riding him and he has always been perfect. He really enjoys trail riding but has done arena work for us just fine. We even put Lawrence (one of our loyal volunteers) on him. He is ready for his forever home!

2/6/12 Update:
Jack is all finished with antibiotics and is enjoying being out of the barn. He was kicking up his heels this weekend and flirting with the Girl Scouts.
Jack is ready to be adopted. He does need an experienced person though, because sometimes you have to remind him who is boss. He has never done anything wrong, but that silly boy might if he thought he could get away with it. He is broke to ride and is great under saddle. He is a “people horse” and enjoys humans very much. He likes to have a job and to work under saddle. He has great legs and strong feet that shouldn’t ever need shoes, unless you are riding super-rocky trails.
Please contact me if you are interested in getting to know Jack. [Leave a message under Comments]
1/26/12 Update:
We rode Jack again this week, however, he started coughing on Friday and had a discharge from his nose. He didn’t have a fever or go off his feed, but we had Dr. Byerly look at him anyway. We started him on antibiotics as a precaution and he is in the barn with a sheet and a blanket during this cold spell. He is still the biggest talker on the place. He is making friends with his new neighbor in the barn, Walker.

Update 1/16/12: Jack is definitely broke to ride. Hannah rode him a few times this week and we had a short trail ride on him. He needs a few weeks of consistant work and he will be great. He is the talker of the bunch. And he does the FUNNIEST things in the morning. He runs around and bites himself like a dog chasing its tail. I am going to try to get it on video. Jack also got his feet done this week. John Morse did a great job with him…he wasn’t too cooperative at first! But he was the one with the best “model” behavior for Josh on Saturday.
Jack is a grey 23-year-old Arabian-cross gelding. He is a character! He is kinda the “Grumpy Old Man,” but submits and enjoys attention very much. He was a stray, found walking the streets of Bakersfield. We are getting to know his personality better every day. We recently started ground work and will soon see what he is like under saddle.
He doesn’t seem to be afraid of much at all and he is very level-headed.
