3/16/12 Update:

Miss Theresa Mare looks to have gained more weight. Theresa’s leg is almost closed up all the way. She is showing a little bit of spunk now!! Theresa is up to date with all vaccines and wormers, and is no longer on any medications. She got a bath with a special treatment for the rain rot. I cleaned out her hoofs, brushed her tail and mane. She got worked on by the ferrier and she was awsome. She has enjoyed all the attention she is receiving! She is our shining star!!!

2/6/12 update:

Miss Theresa is comming along. She has rain rot, and a cold too. She is on Uniprim to take away the cold. She is putting on weight slowly. She is the kindest rescue mare I have here. Her leg is also healing nicely and most of the skin has grown back. She always follows me around her stall, looking for my attention which she loves.

1/26/12 Update:

We had Dr. Byerly check Billy and Theresa on Friday. He suggested that Billy be weaned ASAP because of Theresa’s body condition. We started a gradual deworming program for them both, as they are both loaded with worms. Theresa was able to have her leg bandage removed and Billy checked out A-OKAY. As sad as it was, we weaned Billy on Sunday. I brought Theresa here and Billy was left with his Nubian goat friends, 2 big brother Clydesdales, and a Shetland pony. Theresa did cry for Billy several times that night and a few times the next morning. Billy was doing fine. It was a hard thing to do, but it was doctor’s orders. When Theresa dries up, we will have them at the same place again. It just would have been too stressful any other way for her. We are giving her lots of love and plenty of groceries. Billy is getting spoiled too and enjoying his new four-legged friends.
